Elementary - Virtual Programming
Through consultation with superintendents, teachers, consultants and parents we are offering an array of virtual programming for the elementary grade levels. Exploratory Sessions For All Grade Levels:
• Historical Dance - Using the teleconferencing programme of your choice, we are able to provide an interactive historical dance workshop that delves into the cultural significance of each dance as well as its importance from a historical perspective.
• Drumming From Around the World - An examination of drumming throughout history and around the world: exploring its uses in work, warfare, rituals and entertainment. Students will build their own percussion device and learn to drum in various styles. This is not a drumming circle and does not contain First Nations content.
• That Was Then, This Is Now - This session compares daily life now to back in ancient times especially from the perspective of a child. Little things kids take for granted as well as major life events will be explored in this artifact based workshop.
• The Art of the Court Jester - This workshop allows students to learn the history of the Court Jester and the various skills employed by entertainers and fools throughout the world: juggling, balancing, tumbling, telling jokes and much more!
• Puppetry - Puppets have been used since the earliest times to animate and communicate the ideas and needs of human societies. This session will explore the uses of puppets, the art of puppeteering and have students creating stories of purpose using a variety of puppets and techniques. Students will get a chance to create their own puppets using found objects around the home.
• Watercolour Painting - This session explores the ancient art of watercolour painting conducted by an visual arts instructor (and artist) with over 40 years experience. Historical significance will be explored and students will create their own watercolour painting using whatever supplies they have on hand.
• Singing & Sea Shanties - Without electricity life is very different. Singing was a big part of everyday life, especially for those at sea. This workshop discusses the evolution of song, its various purposes and teaches students several sea shanties and even gives them the chance to do some group song writing!
• STEM of History - This workshop explores how STEM evolved throughout history focusing on every day life as well as advancements in battle. This interactive session utilizes a variety of multimedia components.
• Cartography - This workshop explores the ancient art of map making and covers multiple areas of the curriculum. Students will design and create their own community maps based on set criteria involving the principles of map making. Students will extract and analyse information from various maps, read a coordinate grid system and become familiar with historic reasons for map making.
For Grade 4 Social Studies:
All of the above sessions are available for grade 4 classrooms and explore the social studies curriculum but in addition we have this specific workshop as well.
• The Armoury - This workshop has students virtually explore armour and artifacts from various points in history. Students will learn how weapons and armour were developed during ancient times and connect with history. Students will learn about blacksmithing and building of weapons based on our first hand experiences.

Due to demand we have created a virtual version of our most popular in-person workshop: the Full-Day Festival!
This programme is available to all grade levels including split grade classes.
Teachers select 4 1-hour virtual workshops for their students to take part in followed by a reenactment of the Tournament which features access to a special video demonstration of our instructors in full reproduction armour doing battle like they have never seen before! We follow-up the experience with a live Q&A session with all our instructors exploring any and all topics from the events of the day.
This programme is customized to your daily schedule and can include as many classes as you like. We customize each session for every group we work with.
